Psychotherapy Research is the official journal of the Society for Psychotherapy Research.  A pan-discipline, pan-theoretical publication, its scope covers all aspects of psychotherapy research from process to outcomes; service evaluation and training.  Access to all the online content of the journal from 1991 is available free to all members of SPR.  More detailed information about the journal can be found on its dedicated web page Psychotherapy Research and via the specific links below.

Published Papers

During 2016, 62 papers were published in six issues of Psychotherapy Research. The manuscript types were as follows: 55 Original Manuscripts, 1 Introductions, 3 Book Reviews, and 3 Corrigenda. There were one special section on Elaborating the assimilation model: Case studies of setbacks within sessions and therapeutic collaboration.

We had submissions from first authors representing 37 different countries.

Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate in 2016 was approximately 32%.

Decision Lag

In 2016, it took on average 3.7 weeks for a manuscript to receive a decision from submission. It was 2015 on average 7 weeks and 2014 on average 10.9 weeks.

Publication Lag

Median publication lag in 2016 was between 3 and 15 weeks to online publication.

Circulation

Downloads slightly decreased from 94,925 (2015) to 90,900. However, we observe a positive trend in 2017. In the first quarter of 2017 the downloads increased by 33% compared to the first quarter in 2016.

Publisher Relations

The relationship with Taylor & Francis continues to be excellent. The publisher has been very responsive to the editors, authors and readership. Changes continue to be made to refine ScholarOne and to improve the review process. And a variety of creative promotional efforts continue.
