We are pleased to announce the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting of the Society for Psychotherapy Research will be held in Philadelphia, PA on Friday evening, November 6 and Saturday, November 7, 2009. The conference will focus on the growing interface between psychotherapy research, psychopharmacology, and neuroimaging. The keynote address entitled, The Changing Face of Psychotherapy Research, will be given Friday evening and will be a discussion/debate led by Dr. Paul Crits-Christoph (psychotherapy), Dr. Michael Thase (pharmacotherapy), and Dr. James Loughead (neuroimaging).
Co-sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Psychiatry and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the conference will be held on the Penn campus at 3535 Market Street, 16th floor. The Mid-Atlantic SPR conferences offer a unique venue for discussion and exchange between researchers, practitioners, and students. With sweeping views of Philadelphia from all workshop rooms, crisp fall weather, collegial atmosphere, and lively debate, MASPR 2009 will be a conference not to miss!
The cost will be $75 for SPR members, $100 for Non-SPR members, and $20 for students (for registrations received before August 15, 2009). For registrations received after August 15, 2009, the cost will be $100 for SPR members, $125 for Non-SPR members, and $25 for students. Registration fees cover the cost of all workshops, presentations, Friday evening reception, and Saturday lunch. The deadline for receipt of registration forms (and early bird rates) is August 15, 2009.
Given the focus on the changing face of psychotherapy research, we are encouraging submissions from multiple disciplines including medicine, psychiatry, psychology, social work, and nursing. Please consider submitting a presentation proposal for the meeting. Presentations can be reports of completed projects, projects in progress, models of therapeutic interventions, descriptive papers of practice issues, or planned projects for which you would like consultation. Proposals for presentations are to be submitted using the attached form and are due August 1, 2009. Please especially encourage students to participate as we will award 10 $100 research awards to students who present a paper or poster, or who participate in a panel at the conference.
We look forward to seeing you in beautiful Philadelphia.
Marna Barrett, Chair (msb@mail.med.upenn.edu), Guy Diamond, Co-Chair, Jeff Hayes, Clara Hill
