CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR CHAPTER PRESIDENT-ELECT

The NASPR Nominations Committee (comprised of Michael Constantino, John Ogrodniczuk, and Laurie Heatherington) is now accepting nominations for the next President-Elect of NASPR. President-Elect is an extremely important and rewarding leadership position in our organization. This elected official will serve for two calendar years starting at the business meeting of the 2015 SPR Convention. After this term, the elected official will serve as NASPR President for two calendar years, and then assume the office of Immediate Past-President for two calendar years. Thus, there is a six-year commitment (2015-2021) to Chapter leadership.

During his or her term, the Chapter President-Elect (1) serves as a member of the Chapter Steering Committee; (2) chairs the Chapter Meeting Program Committee; and (3) assumes other duties assigned by the President.

To be eligible, the candidate must be a Chapter member in good standing who has not served in a NASPR office for at least three years. The candidate should have achieved visibility in the field of psychotherapy research, and show clear promise to lead the organization and serve its interests. The slate will consist of no fewer than two and no more than four candidates depending on the nominations received.

Taking these parameters into account, please consider nominating yourself or someone else in the organization. To do so, please send an email to
(1) Name and affiliation of the nominee

(2) A brief statement (400 words or less) as to why this person is a strong candidate for the position of Chapter President-Elect

Also, please attach:

(3) The candidate?s updated CV

Please submit nominations by November 21, 2014 at 5pm. The Nominations Committee will then select the slate and advertise the candidates' statements in the next newsletter. The newsletter will also contain instructions and deadlines for the email ballot.

Announcement: Fall 2015 "Science to Practice Workshops"

As previously announced, NASPR will sponsor several training-, consultation-, and/or mentoring-themed workshops during fall 2015. The idea was for these meetings to be one day, low cost, limited planning events with financial support provided by the organization.

We are happy to announce that two of these meetings are in the works:

(1) Lake George, Holiday Inn (tentative date: October 24, 2015; local hosts: James Boswell and Michael Constantino) - This meeting, which remains in development, will feature a research methodology workshop and student research/mentoring consultations. Details on the final program and registration guidelines to follow.

(2) New York City, New School for Social Research (date: November 7, 2015; local hosts: Christopher Muran, Jeremy Safran, and Catherine Eubanks-Carter) - this meeting, which is titled, "Alliance-Focused Training: Research and Practice," will include plenary sessions featuring Jacques Barber, Jeff Binder, Louis Castonguay, Doris Chang, Micki Friedlander, Marvin Goldfried, Robert Hatcher, Laurie Heatherington, and Clara Hill. It will also include workshops focused on the challenges related to alliance-focused training and research on such training.

Much more detail on these events will follow in subsequent newsletters and announcements. For now, mark your calendars, and trust that registration costs will be kept very low!

Pre-Announcement: Fall 2016 Chapter Meeting

We are extremely excited to announce that plans are in the works to hold a full chapter meeting during the fall of 2016 on the beautiful campus of the University of California, Berkeley! The local host will be Aaron Fisher, and he will be joined in planning this meeting by John Orgodniczuk (who will be President at the time of the meeting) as Conference Planning Committee Chair, the incoming President-Elect as Program Chair, and the entire Steering Committee as members of these committees. We will provide many more details as the planning unfolds, but for now we can all get excited about this forthcoming meeting and its fantastic location!
