We, at the Society for Psychotherapy Research, respect the privacy of the users of our website and are committed to protecting the personal information that users may share with us. This Privacy Statement describes our practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information which we may obtain when you visit our website from which you are accessing this Privacy Statement or when you participate in any of the online forums, platforms, newsletters or other digital activities (“Activities”) carried out by us on the website. This Privacy Statement also describes your choices regarding the use, access and correction of your personal information.

 

BY ENTERING THE SPR WEBSITE AND USING OR PARTICIPATING IN ANY ACTIVITIES, YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN THIS PRIVACY STATEMENT, INCLUDING TO THE COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF YOUR INFORMATION. Personal Information:

• to communicate with you in general, including for the purpose of providing you information
  about conferences, member benefits, webinars or responding to your questions and
  comments;
• to provide you with hard copies of our journal, Psychotherapy Research;
• to measure interest in and improve our Site and/or Activities;
• to enable some of our business purposes, such as data analysis, audits, researching and
  developing or improving new Activities, enhancing our Site, and determining the
  effectiveness of our promotional campaigns relating to our products and services;
• to prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities or handle and resolve legal disputes, for
  regulatory purposes, to enforce this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use, or as we may
  otherwise believe to be necessary or appropriate: (i) under applicable law, including laws
  outside your country of residence; and (ii) to protect our rights, properties or interests; and

3. WITH WHOM WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

 

Personal Information

We will not share your personal information collected from your use of the Site with others, except as described in this Privacy Policy.

 

We may share your personal information under the following circumstances:
• In the course of operating our business, it may be necessary or appropriate for us to provide access to your personal information to others such as our affiliates (i.e., Taylor & Francis for delivery of the journal, Psychotherapy Research), service providers, contractors and select vendors so that we can operate our business. Where practical, we seek to obtain confidentiality agreements that are consistent with this Privacy Policy and that limit others’ use or disclosure of such personal information.
• We may share your personal information to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, to enforce our legal rights, to defend against legal claims or in such circumstances where, in our judgment, a disclosure is necessary or appropriate in accordance with applicable law.
• We may share information that you voluntarily make public, including information that you post on any blogs, message boards, chat rooms or other similar forums, whether or not such forums are operated by the Society for Psychotherapy Research. Since such public information can be accessed by others and used by any member of the public, such use by third parties is beyond our control. To request removal of your personal information from our blog or community forum, please contact us at sprexecutive@gmail.com. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.
• We may also display personal testimonials of SPR members on our Site in addition to other endorsements. With your consent, we may post your testimonial along with your name. If you wish to update or delete your testimonial, you can contact us at sprexecutive@gmail.com.

 

Non-Personal Information

We may share aggregated or anonymous information or statistics (which in any event does not contain any of your personal information) with third parties, such as our existing or potential agents, investors, affiliates, vendors, service providers and other business partners.

 

We may collect information about the use of the Services and the site, such as the number of downloads, types of Services used, how many users we receive daily, and the IP/Internet address of your computer. This information is collected in aggregate form, without identifying any user individually.


We may use this aggregate, non-identifying statistical data for improving the Site and Services, providing more relevant experiences to our clients and for statistical analysis.

We use third-party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology required to run our Activities. Where practical, we seek to obtain confidentiality agreements that are consistent with this Privacy Policy and that limit others’ use or disclosure of your personal information.

 

5. ACCESSING AND MODIFYING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES

The Site may contain links to websites operated by third parties (“External Sites”). These External Sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these External Sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our Site and welcome and feedback about these sites.

 

7. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY PROTECTION

 

We understand the importance of protecting children’s privacy in the interactive online world. The Site is not designed for or intentionally targeted at children 18 years of age or younger. We do not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from children under the age of 18 through the Site. If you are under 18, please do not give us any personal information. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children never to provide personal information through the Site without their permission.
